Abstract. Geovisualization provides theories, methods, and tools for visualizing processes on the earth’s surface. One of key challenges field is to find interesting engaging ways display geographical data. In this paper, we focus Augmented Reality (AR) Sandbox. An AR Sandbox combines a box filled with sand 3D camera projector explore topography terrain in real time allow water flow simulations. This direct interaction between user makes sandbox fascinating, explorative tool geovisualization.In give an overview about how built, what components are required, configuration, calibration or adding additional features work. We also discuss improve usability change its appearance make it more suitable specific use cases geovisualization. Of particular importance DEM tool, which allows real-life data be remodeled terrain, create rainfall simulations, export current as DEM. Further advantages using geovisualization hands-on methodology gamification aspects, motivate people interact learning effects geosciences.
